was heard from the beacon focusing the search. teams are zeroing in on an area south of the johnson creek airstrip which is near yellow pine idaho. now, the trouble is, the signal is very weak and it's difficult to pinpoint in that rugged landscape. the significant uncle engine plane is registered to silicon valley ceo dale smith. he and four family members left baker city, oregon, sunday morning. and the aircraft was headed for butte, montana. several agencies are now involved in the search including more than 40 people on the ground. but neighbors here in the bay area, they are saying that smith is known to be a very good pilot. >> he flies frequently so i'm surprised that he has gone down or missing or whatever has happened. you know, when he goes on these trips he stays in touch with everybody and all the airports or wherever he is landing of so it's something to worry about. >> despite the signal, no sign of the plane. the search was suspended at dark. it will pick up again at daylight tomorrow. >>> in merced a father and two children died in a massive duplex fire this morning. the f
